Lia-Lucine is an award-winning filmmaker and photographer dedicated to crafting captivating visual stories that resonate with audiences. Specializing in brand storytelling, documentary filmmaking, and long-form narratives, she brings expertise in directing, cinematography, and editing, across a range of genres.
As an ocean-obsessed Armenian-American with a background in anthropology and education, she brings a unique lens to her work: curiosity, a deep appreciation of culture and environment, and a belief that all humans have the ability to change the trajectory of their lives. Her films often spotlight ordinary people doing extraordinary things—whether it’s paddling 52 miles across the Ka'iwi Channel, middle school students changing public policy, or older women defying expectations.
Her work has been featured at festivals such as the San Francisco International Film Festival and Cine Las Americas International Film Festival, and she has completed projects for major brands including USA, MTV, and Google. Currently, she is directing "Beyond the Compass," a documentary following a group of women aged 62–87 as they redefine what it means to age.
Lia-Lucine’s dedication to her craft is matched by her adventurous spirit—she’s been nearly run over by Hawaiian outrigger canoes while filming, faced a mutinous group of middle schoolers during a holiday music video, and set up tents in the rain for 22 singles searching for love (and maybe a little fame). She believes the most compelling stories are often found in unexpected places and is committed to telling stories that not only captivate, but also inspire and motivate people toward a better world.
